Christopher Beynon to speak on Equitable Economic Development Strategies at DRA’s 2017 Annual Meeting

RALEIGH, NC (January 11, 2017) – The Downtown Raleigh Alliance (DRA) is pleased to have an international leader in the transformation of urban environments, Christopher Beynon, as the keynote speaker for their 2017 Annual Meeting and Downtown Achievement Awards Ceremony, presented by PNC on Thursday, February 16 from 5:30 pm until 8 pm at the Raleigh Convention Center.

DRA President and CEO, David Diaz, says Beynon offers unique insight on how an inclusive and equitable economic development strategy will drive the success of cities of the future.  “We’re looking forward to hearing how he can use these ideas as a call-to-action to help secure the economic future of downtown Raleigh.”

Beynon is a principal at the Berkeley-based design firm MIG and has led planning, urban design, and economic development projects that have resulted in real change for cities large and small throughout North America, including Denver, Boston, Anchorage, Winnipeg, Charlotte, Spokane, Dallas, and Calgary.  He uses his knowledge of cutting edge trends, quantitative analysis, dynamic imagery, and energetic storytelling to help communities discover their own distinct paths toward future success.

The event will celebrate the individuals, businesses, and organizations whose contributions are making a significant impact on the renaissance of downtown Raleigh.  DRA has titled this year’s annual meeting as “All In: Creating the Inclusive City,” in order to showcase the diverse and welcoming nature of downtown Raleigh.

Beynon will be available for phone interviews prior to the event and for in-person interviews the day of the event.  To schedule an interview with Mr. Beynon, please contact Danny Vivenzio at danny.vivenzio@downtownRaleigh.org.

Pre-event registration is open through Tuesday, February 7.  Admission costs $80 for DRA members and $95 for non-members.  Limited on-site admission will be available for $120. To register or learn more information, please visit www.YouRHere.com/AnnualMeeting.
