Shop Downtown Gift Card Now Redeemable in Taxi Taxi Cabs and at Parking Meters

Gift card adds transportation payment options to accommodate downtown commuters and visitors

RALEIGH, NC (August 26, 2014) – The Downtown Raleigh Alliance (DRA) is pleased to announce that the Shop Downtown Raleigh Gift Card is now redeemable inside Taxi Taxi Raleigh cabs and at parking meters in each downtown Raleigh district. A DRA merchant program, the Shop Downtown Gift Card is a prepaid card that is accepted at over 100 retailers, restaurants, and service providers. By enhancing accessibility to these transportation options, the gift card will accommodate the growing population of downtown Raleigh commuters and entertainment seekers.

As the population in the region continues to increase exponentially, downtown Raleigh seeks to increase access to modes of transportation for visitors, employees and residents. According to the DRA’s State of Downtown Raleigh report, there are 38,000 employees in downtown, and in 2013, over 3.2 million tourists visited center city venues and attractions. The gift card will grant easy payment access to 160 pay stations (approximately 950 spaces) in the downtown area.

Downtown is a destination for entertainment and nightlife in the Triangle, boasting the highest concentration of clubs (30 nightclub venues). Adding Taxi Taxi Raleigh as a participating service-provider not only serves downtown’s nightlife seekers but also promotes social responsibility. The premier eco-friendly taxi fleet in the state of North Carolina, Taxi Taxi currently serves the Raleigh market with over 110 active vehicles. All vehicles feature GPS dispatching, a process that automatically locates the closest driver to a passengers location. Additionally, all Taxi Taxi cabs are equipped with backseat credit card devices, as well as in-cab surveillance cameras for one of the safest transportation experiences available.

Shop Downtown Raleigh Cards are available in any denomination from $10 to $500 and can be purchased online or at the Downtown Raleigh Alliance during normal business hours Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5 pm or at Deco Raleigh during normal business hours.
