The Downtown Raleigh Alliance, the City of Raleigh, Wake County, and North Carolina Symphony are pleased to invite you to a FREE hour long concert on Friday, March 21 called “What Makes Music MUSIC?” This concert is especially for the employees and family members of downtown employers. For those who have the day off, it’s a perfect opportunity to enjoy your orchestra with your children and family. For those who are working, it’s an hour long early lunchtime concert break for a job well done. Either way, please come out on Friday, March 21 to hear your North Carolina Symphony in a special free concert at Meymandi Concert Hall. Doors will be open as early as 10:15 am.
This concert features the music of some of the greatest composers of all time, and the Symphony has shared it this season with young people across the state through its education concerts. Resident Conductor William Henry Curry will utilize the five fundamentals of classical music: melody, tempo, texture, rhythm, and dynamics in performances of American composer Aaron Copland’s beloved “Simple Gifts,” alongside the driving rhythms of Beethoven’s Seventh Symphony and Igor Stravinsky’s heart-pounding Firebird Suite. You couldn’t ask for a better introduction to the North Carolina Symphony and the world of classical music, in a setting that is perfect for children and adults alike.
