Join over 2,000 athletes and citizens across the Triangle and Piedmont region as they stretch out and suit up for the 14th annual AIDS WALK+RIDE, Saturday May 2nd from 6am till 5pm!
Setting off from the Halifax Mall in Raleigh, participants will go the distance with a one mile and a three mile walk route and 30-mile, 60-mile, and 101.5 mile bike routes.
North Carolina is ranked 11th in the nation for HIV/AIDS cases, with over 32,000 citizens living with HIV disease. Annually, the Alliance supports over 1,000 North Carolinians living in Wake, Durham, Orange, and Johnston Counties. The RIDE route will go through Wake, Durham, and Orange Counties, thereby touching all of the Alliance of AIDS Services - Carolina service area. Water, snacks, and port-a-johns are provided on both the RIDE and WALK routes.
Finally, Walkers, Riders, and Volunteers will enjoy a rousing closing ceremony at the Halifax Mall in downtown Raleigh!
Associated Street Closures:
There will actually be a 1 mile and a 3 mile walk route. The group will assemble on the Halifax Mall. At 3 pm the walkers will exit the Mall onto Wilmington Street, proceed north on Wilmington Street and loop around the Archdale Building onto Salisbury Street, proceed south on Salisbury Street to Morgan Street, east on Morgan Street to Person Street, north on Person Street and those participants of the 1 mile walk will turn west onto Lane Street and return to the Mall. The 3 mile walkers will continue north on Person Street to Peace Street, west on Peace Street to Blount Street, south on Blount Street to Edenton Street, west on Edenton Street to Wilmington Street, north on Wilmington Street and return to the Mall.
