Christin Kleinstreuer New Zealand: The Great Escape
Location: Artspace
Date: Friday February 1, 2008 - Saturday March 1, 2008
Time: Tues-Sat (10 am- 6 pm)
What better place than New Zealand to escape the wrath of the world? There artist Christin Kleinstreuer found a wildness and diversity of nature that fills the spirit. For Kleinstreuer, New Zealand's isolation somehow contributes to its charm. It is, for her, a fantasy land of sorts which encourages escapism from bungee jumping to painting. Through color and texture, in this exhibition of oil paintings, Kleinstreuer tries to capture a bit of the excitement that is New Zealand. Christin Kleinstreuer is a California native and has lived in Raleigh since 1984. She has been a full-time painter since 1995 and currently shares a studio at Artspace.
Kleinstreuer divides her time between Raleigh, the California Bay Area, and Christchurch, NZ. Her work has been exhibited throughout the country, most recently at the Raleigh Duke Hospital, Raleigh, NC; the Durham Art Guild's juried exhibition, Durham, NC; the Redwood City Art Center, Redwood City, CA; Flink's Fine Art, Raleigh, NC; and Glance Gallery, Raleigh, NC.
