The Downtown Raleigh Alliance (DRA) in partnership with the City's new Economic Development Office is pleased to launch this inaugural event, Downtown Raleigh 2012: An Economic Forum, which promises to be a memorable one. We hope you will participate!!

The mission of the City, with support from DRA, is to continue the revitalization of Raleigh's Central Business District (CBD). Over the past 10 years in downtown Raleigh, more than $2.5 Billion has been invested or is currently in the pipeline. Our goal is to attract billions more to take downtown to a whole new level! The Economic Forum was created to provide a forum for investors, developers, real estate professionals, and government economic developers to learn about key projects and the latest economic trends that are positioning Raleigh's CBD as a preferred, amenity-rich location.

Our outstanding panel includes:

• Craig Youst, Red Hat, Senior Director - Global Facilities, Red Hat, who will discuss the company's decision to move its global headquarters to downtown Raleigh. 

• John Van Coutren, Executive VP, VG Hospitality, who will discuss the decision to build a Hampton Inn & Suites hotel in the Glenwood South district and how they were able to overcome challenges, such as financing, in today's economic climate.  

• Economic Development Manager for City of Raleigh will provide an overview of the city's new approach to oversee and coordinate its economic development strategy and initiatives. This will be a great opportunity for the ED manager to build strong relationships with the corporate community. (Position being filled in March)

• David Diaz, President & CEO, DRA, who will unveil and distribute the first publication designed specifically for investors and economic developers with clients interested in exploring a new business in Raleigh's downtown.
