Celebrate Women’s History Month at the Raleigh City Museum on March 28, 2009 at 2 pm. Journey to the past as museum staff explore the heroic stories of women who have shaped Raleigh’s rich history. Learn about early trailblazers such as Dorothea Dix, advocate for the mentally ill and African American scholar Anna Julia Cooper, two examples of women that defied early gender standards. In addition to specific individuals, you will also learn about historic organizations that continue to service the greater Raleigh area, such as the Woman’s Club and YWCA. Women’s History Month is a time to honor the great achievements women have made throughout history. Come celebrate Raleigh’s own heroines with the Raleigh City Museum.
