Come join us for the 2010 Healing Race® 5K (and One Mile) Walk Run & Health Expo. This event is part of the Healing Race Foundation’s Live It Well™ initiative designed to motivate you to manage your health with a greater focus on prevention.
Start the morning by getting inspired at the Sunrise Pep Rally. Participate in the 5K or One Mile Walk/Runs. Entertainment will be provided at the start/finish line and along the course including drum lines from area schools. The Health Expo will feature important information on prevention, mini-workshops, and screenings. Enjoy great give-aways, prizes, awards, celebrity appearances and fantastic entertainment. Net proceeds will go to the Healing Race® Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to the elimination of health disparities through prevention. We accomplish our work through the following activities:
• HRF Prevention Online
An online prevention education telehealth portal
• HRF Inspire
A social marketing initiative particularly aimed at African Americans, Hispanic/Latino Americans, and American Indians (those disproportionately affected by chronic diseases)
• HRF Partners in Prevention
A collaboration with community and faith-based organizations focused on prevention
• HRF Events and Programs
• HRF Research and Assessments
Associated Street Closures:
The group will gather on a portion of the 400 block of Fayetteville Street between Davie Street and the south end of the City Plaza (the Marriott Hotel Circle will remain open).
At 8 am the runners will proceed north on Fayetteville Street, right onto Morgan Street, left onto Wilmington Street, cross Peace Street onto Halifax Street, right onto Delway Street, left onto Blount Street and proceed to a point just north of Cedar Street (but prior to the private alley that leads onto Blount Street from the Pilot Mills neighborhood) where the runners will turn around and return along the same route to the start/finish line.
