Join the Nicholas School of the Environment for a unique opportunity to share the knowledge NASA has gained through the lens of the Hubble Telescope – and to be one of the first to see Hubble 3D in IMAX® courtesy of Warner Brothers.
Through the generosity of Warner Brothers, the Nicholas School has been given an exciting opportunity to host an advance screening of Hubble 3D Through the powerful medium of IMAX® 3D, this awe-inspiring film enables movie-goers to journey through distant galaxies to explore the grandeur and mysteries of our celestial surroundings, and accompany spacewalking astronauts as they attempt the most difficult and important tasks in NASA’s history. Narrated by Leonardo DiCaprio, Hubble 3D offers an inspiring and unique look into the Hubble Space Telescope’s legacy and highlights its profound impact on the way we view the universe and ourselves.
The pre-film reception will include a special presentation by NASA Chief Engineer and Duke Alumnus Michael Ryschkewitsch. Dr. Ryschkewitsch joined the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in 1982 and worked on the first service mission for the Hubble Space Telescope. He was named NASA’s Chief Engineer in 2007. He will share his firsthand experience working on the Hubble Telescope and what NASA has gained from its existence.
