Boy Mentoring Network, Inc
On Saturday, August 21, 2010 Boy Mentoring Network, Inc. & Male Investment Plan will hold a March, called “The March Of Excellence, “in downtown Raleigh. This event’s goal is to motivate and inspire our young African American Males to achieve high academic success. To compete harder in the class room than he does on the athletic field. We have a young dynamic speaker Micah Mason. Mr. Mason is the spokesman for Boys Mentoring Network, Inc. (boys mentoring program). His background includes born in Ahoskie, NC where he lived in a small town called Rich Square, NC until he was 3 years old. He then moved to the great city of Knightdale, NC. He is married and has a daughter.
For most adolescent males, the passage from boyhood to manhood is a challenging one, since it requires them to understand and manage a variety of issues and transitions: physical changes in their bodies, altering relationships with authority, friends, and members of opposite sex: greater freedom and responsibility for personal decisions: new expectations for acting more like adults in how they conceive and plan for the future, preparations for life’s roles particularly related to education and careers and greater pressures from peers, authority, sexual relations and the acquisition of money and material possessions. With visible, caring male role models, the passage to manhood can be difficult enough for many young male. For boys from homes or communities in which such role models are not present or conspicuous, special attention is required to talk explicitly about and model responsible manhood and to introduce them to good examples of dependable men. This important function cannot be left to television, professional sports or popular culture personalities. Our organization addresses these functions.
