over/under OPENING: @ the Block Gallery

Sponsored by the Raleigh Arts Commission, over/under at the Block Gallery brings to viewers the textural paintings of Kristan Five and Eduardo Lapetina and the haunting photography of Lizz Thabet. Permeating throughout the work is an examination and exploration of human identity. 2010 Piedmont Laureate Zelda Lockhart will read from her new book, Fifth Born II: The Hundredth Turtle at 6 p.m.

During over/under, Block2 Street Video Series, will air the film Radios Appear by Lincoln Hancock & Miles Holst from dusk to 2 a.m.; videos are curated by Neill Prewitt. An additional screening will be held at the Block Gallery (222 W. Hargett St.), exclusively for the opening night.
