Capital Boulevard is a prominent and important transportation corridor in Raleigh. It serves as the primary gateway to the city’s heart and offers unique opportunities for redevelopment, open space creation, water quality improvement, and transit.

Mark your calendar and participatein this Public Design Workshop.

Downtown Raleigh
In late June the community participated in an initial public workshop to identify issues on the corridor and provide feedback on the project scope. At the upcoming all‐day design workshop, participants will start to generate detailed ideas for the study area. The City will kick off the discussion by presenting the results of the detailed inventory and analysis, which will be available on the project website mid‐October in the Issues, Opportunities, and Constraints Report. The presentation and day’s events will be complemented by a full gallery of supporting maps and other displays.

Small groups will discuss and map ideas for the corridor at tables devoted to specific topics such as transportation, water, land use, and urban design. After lunch, groups will reconvene to synthesize and sketch the ideas generated by the topical groups into a holistic plan for the study area. The day will conclude with each group reporting their recommendations to the group at large. Your group’s ideas will inform the development of a set of conceptual solutions for the corridor.

From the beginning, your ideas have been essential to the creation of a new vision for vibrant mixed‐use development and environmental stewardship reflecting the best of 21st century Raleigh for this urban corridor.
