Raleigh Wide Open / City Plaza Grand Opening

On Saturday, October 24 the City of Raleigh, the Downtown Raleigh Alliance, and Arsplosure will celebrate the grand opening of City Plaza with the Raleigh Wide Open 4.  The event will kick-off with a parade at 10 am and will feature 20 bands with headliner Delbert Mcclinton.  Other activities include food and art vendors, a kids zone, street performers, beer and wine tents, and fireworks.  

In City Plaza, look for downtown businesses such as Stitch & Holly Aiken Bags, The Barkery, Escazu Chocolates, Ornamentea, and the Collectors Gallery. You can also find local artisans and crafters such as the Handmaidens, Annelore's, Sweet T Cakery, La Farm Bakery, Elizabeth Galecke Photography, Ahpeele and Captive Collective. There will also be a mini book sale brought to you by the Express Library on Fayetteville Street and adoptable dogs from the SPCA. These vendors will be open from 10 am-5 pm and then the area will be cleared to make way for the main stage headliner performance.  

Adjacent to City Plaza, on Charter Square, you will find Art Raleigh showcasing over 20 North Carolinian artists and craftsmen.  The Art Raleigh art market will be open from 10 am-6 pm.  

Also, look for the following restaurant booths:

6. Tir na nOg
7. Sosta Café
8. Post Tuscan Grille
9. Plaza Café and Deli

 

This year, there will be four stages to include:  the Raleigh Rocks Stage, the Acoustic City Plaza Stage, the Cherry Bounce Stage, and the Main Stage.  The Main Stage will feature headliner Delbert Mcclinton. 

Come out and celebrate this momentous grand opening. 


Associated Street Closures:
The following streets will be closed from 6 pm on Friday, October 23 until 7 am on Sunday, October 25. The 100 through the 500 blocks of Fayetteville Street between Morgan and Lenior Streets. The 00 blocks of Hargett, Davie and Martin Streets between Wilmington and Salisbury.

Additionally, the following parking spaces will be reserved from Friday, October 23 until 7 am on Sunday, October 25. Selected parking spaces on the west curb line of the 100 through 400 blocks of South Wilmington Street and the east curb line of the 100 through 400 blocks of South Salisbury Street.

Additionally, the streets associated with the following parade route will be closed. The participants will gather on the 100 block of Hillsborough Street beginning at 8 am on Saturday, October 24. At 10 am the participants will enter onto Salisbury and proceed south to Morgan Street, east on Morgan Street to Fayettevill Street, south on Fayetteville Street to Lenoir Street where the participants will disassemble. The parade will end by 12 noon.
