The Raleigh St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee is the organizer and sponsor for the parade and co-sponsor for the after parade activities held downtown in Moore Square . The parade grows bigger and better every year. The Raleigh parade is the second largest in the Southeast.
The parade has over 3,500 marchers including floats, pipe and drum bands, horses, dancers and many recognizable mascots. The parade is a celebration for all ethnic groups and cultures.
Associated Street Closures:
The parade will assemble in the 500 block of South Wilmington Street beginning at 11 am.
At 12 noon, the parade will proceed north on Wilmington Street to Davie Street, proceed west on Davie Street to Fayetteville Street, proceed north on Fayetteville Street to Morgan Street, proceed east on Morgan Street to Wilmington Street, proceed north on Wilmington Street to Edenton Street, proceed east on Edenton Street to Blount Street, proceed south on Blount Street to Martin Street where the parade will disassemble.
In addition, a portion of the 200 block of East Martin Street, from Blount Street to Blake Street, will be closed from 7 am until 5 pm for festivities associated with the parade. The westbound lanes of 200 block of East Martin Street will be blocked at Person Street throughout the event.
Additionally, the 100 through the 400 blocks of Fayetteville Street will be designated as no parking from 6 am until 1:30 pm.
The Fort Bragg Green Beret military parachute team is scheduled to drop onto the 200 block of East Martin Street between the hours of 1:15 pm and 1:45 pm. During this time the entire 200 block of East Martin Street will be closed.
