St. Patty’s Run Green 8K

An inaugural 8K in downtown Raleigh that celebrates "Green": St. Patrick's Day and environmentally friendly running. Join in for plenty of Gaelic festivities and a post race concert!

  • The event benefits the National Multiple Sclerosis Society of Eastern North Carolina.
     
  • It is the first sustainable Race Without a Trace in Raleigh and aims to minimize landfill waste through the use of electronic race packets, compostable food and drink containers and promotion of earth-friendly initiatives.
     
  • There will be more than 30 prizes awarded in categories including: fastest male and female runners in 12 age groups, fastest overall runner, fastest master runner and fasted kilt-wearing runner.
     
  • An after-race party will follow the event with live music in front of Tir na nOg Irish Pub.
     

Associated Street Closures:
The runners will begin to assemble on the 200 block of S Person Street beginning at 2 pm. At 3 pm they will proceed north on Person to Franklin Street, turn east on Franklin to Bloodworth Street, turn south on Bloodworth to Jones Street, turn east on Jones to Linden Street, turn north on Linden to Oakwood Avenue, turn east on Oakwood to State Street, turn north on State to Monroe Drive, turn west on Monroe to Brookside Drive, turn south on Brookside to Watagua Street, turn north on Watauga to Sasser Street, turn west on Sasser to Bloodworth Street, turn south on Bloodworth to Franklin Street, turn west on Franklin to Blount Street, turn south on Blount to the start/finish line on the 200 block of Blount Street. The race will conclude by 3:30 pm. The portion of Blount between Hargett and Martin Streets will remain closed until 10 pm for a post-race party.
