Wake Med Scrub Run 5k/10k

The physicians and staff at WakeMed Health & Hospitals invite you to participate in the second annual WakeMed Scrub Run, a 5K/10K event benefitting WakeMed Children’s.

The Scrub Run features a competitive 5K and 10K races that accommodate both runners and walkers, along with a 100-Yard Kids dash. This event is designed to get our entire community involved. Registered participants in all events will receive a race shirt. To guarantee availability and size, please register prior to September 21.

In addition to the race, WakeMed will continue the celebration with a Fun Fest from 8:30 am – Noon on Fayetteville Street at City Plaza . Racers, their family and friends, and all members of the community will enjoy a variety of activities, including:

Games & activities for the whole family
Live music & entertainment
Face painting
Arts & crafts
Mascots, including Twinkle, the WakeMed Children’s mascot

 

Entry Fees:

  • 10K – $25 prior to September 15; $30 after September 15
  • 5K – $20 prior to September 15; $25 after September 15
  • 100 Yard Kids Dash – $5 (no late fee)

Associated Street Closures:
On Saturday September 29th from 4:00am until 1:00pm the 400 block of Fayetteville Street from Davie Street to the south end of City Plaza will be closed. Marriott hotel guests will have access from Lenoir Street.
At 8:30am runners for both the 5k/10k races will assemble in the 400 block of Fayetteville Street at City Plaza, proceed north, left on Morgan, right on Salisbury, left on Hillsborough.
The 5k route turns around at Forest Drive, east on Hillsborough, right on Salisbury, left on Morgan, right on Fayetteville returning to the 400 block finish area near the Sheraton/City Plaza.
The 10k route begins as above, continues west on Hillsborough, looping the Bell Tower at NC State University, east on Hillsborough, left on McDowell, left on Edenton to Hillsborough, Hillsborough to the Bell Tower for a second loop, east on Hillsborough, right on Salisbury, left on Morgan, right on Fayetteville to the finish line.
