Join us on June 23rd to commemorate the War of 1812. The day will start with a reenactment of the Reading of the War Declaration by Gov. Hawkins to the Wake Regiment along with living history demonstrations from 10:30 am- noon on the West Side of the State Capital Grounds. From 1-4 pm come to Mordecai Historic Park to learn about civilian and military life in 1812 through living histories demonstrations. Finally, join us at the Raleigh City Museum from 7-10 pm for a recreation of a ball held in 1812 to celebrate North Carolina's entry into the war. Dance steps will be taught, or you can just come and watch! This program is presented by the Wake Volunteer Guard and the N.C. Bi-Centennial Company.
