Make a beeline for the Raleigh Downtown Farmers Market's annual Honey Buzztival to celebrate the health benefits, history, and apiculture of North Carolina honey. Take a peek inside a beehive, indulge in delectable honey-infused tastings, and enjoy family-friendly festivities while learning about the importance of bees in our ecosystem.
The Market will be "abuzz" with honey activities including:
LIVE FOOD DEMONSTRATIONS: At 11:30, join buku Chef Amanda Haisley for a live food demo and then at 12:30, Chef Michael Rigot from Rye Bar & Southern Kitchen.
LOCAL HONEY VENDORS: Shop and taste NC honey and products from: Javier DeVivero, Raleigh Honey and Hive, Carolina Bee Company, Ben Crawley (aka "Mr Buzz") and Steve Hildebrand Bees
BEE-HIVE DEMO: Get all the buzz with Beekeeper Steve Hildebrand who will host a live bee-hive demo, discussing the importance of honey, pollination, and the increasingly interdependent relationship between people and apis mellifera.
HONEY BUTTER STATION: There will be a station for kids to mix up their own honey butter! A mix of heavy whipping cream and local honey. Yum!
FARM-FRESH FARE: Dine on local lunch options or grab a box lunch from market vendors buku, Kimbap, Rye Bar & Southern Kitchen and The Pit.
LIVE MUSIC: Enjoy the latest and greatest of folk/rock music from Russ Thompson.
