POYNER & SPRUILL ANNOUNCES DOWNTOWN MOVE
Raleigh Based Firm Will Move to RBC Plaza by 2008
RALEIGH, NC, September 27, 2006 -- Poyner & Spruill LLP, one of North Carolina’s oldest and largest law firms, today announced that they will relocate their Raleigh office and more than 120 attorneys and staff to what will become Raleigh’s tallest building, the RBC Plaza, by 2008.
Poyner & Spruill will occupy 55,000 square-feet over three floors of the 33-story tower. The building will be located on the corner of Fayetteville, Martin, and Wilmington Streets. The firm is the first announced tenant of the building other than RBC Centura Bank.
“This agreement will allow us to significantly enhance our Raleigh presence while giving us the additional offices and conference facilities we really need,” said Joseph B. “Bo” Dempster, Poyner & Spruill’s managing partner. “The building will also offer several amenities we’re excited about for both clients and staff.”
Ample and easily accessible parking will be available for both clients and staff, and the firm will also have access to the planned rooftop garden.

The downtown move announcement comes in a year that has already included other significant firm announcements. In February, Dempster was elected managing partner of the firm following Cecil W. Harrison Jr. stepping down from the position he had held since 1999. The firm is currently at its largest lawyer count ever and in October will celebrate its 20th anniversary as Poyner & Spruill which was formed in 1986 by the merger of two of North Carolina's oldest and most respected law firms - Poyner, Geraghty, Hartsfield & Townsend of Raleigh and Spruill & Spruill of Rocky Mount and Raleigh.
