RBC CENTURA BANK CONNECTS WITH DOWNTOWN RALEIGH BUSINESSES
RBC Centura and the Downtown Raleigh Alliance Launch Business Resource Center

RALEIGH, N.C., Aug. 9, 2007 – RBC Centura celebrated the opening of the RBC Centura Business Resource Center, located in the Downtown Raleigh Alliance headquarters on Wilmington Street in Downtown Raleigh.

“We are very excited to open the doors to the RBC Centura Business Resource Center,” said Ron Day, RBC Centura chief operating officer and co-chair of the Downtown Raleigh Alliance Board of Directors. “The center will be a valuable resource for downtown businesses and will help us connect with the needs of the business community.”

The resource center will provide resources including books about leadership, management, planning and downtown business improvement, as well as a computer. Any business person or organization – for-profit or nonprofit – can sign up to use the meeting space.

“This center will enhance our economic development efforts to help businesses grow and flourish in our downtown,” said David Diaz, president and CEO of the Downtown Raleigh Alliance. “Partnering with RBC Centura on this project is a great opportunity to establish additional business resources in the area increasing the value our city can provide to new and existing businesses.”

The resource center was made possible by RBC Centura’s Heart of the City grant program. Through this program, the bank committed one million dollars to fund projects for the betterment of downtown Raleigh, including nearly 160 flower planters on Fayetteville Street and the 2006 block party for the Raleigh Wide Open celebration.

The RBC Centura Business Resource Center is managed by the Downtown Raleigh Alliance with support provided by RBC Centura. Organizations interested in using the space should contact Roxanne Coffey at (919) 832-1231. The center is available by appointment from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. most Mondays through Fridays.
