The Longview School will host a display and silent auction of 21 goats in Raleigh’s City Market on October 6 from 6-9 p.m. during the First Friday gallery walk.
These life-size resin goats have been transformed into art by some of the Triangle area’s finest artists. They will be found under the awnings of the former Greenshields Brewery on Blake, Parham and Wolfe Streets from 6-9 p.m. A jazz band will perform from 6-7 p.m. and David Dyer & Crooked Smile will perform from 7.30-10 p.m.
These goats will be auctioned as a fundraiser for the Longview School. The Longview School is a special education school within the Wake County Public School System serving approximately 100 middle and high school students who present the most severe emotional and behavioral disabilities of the more than 125,000 students in the county. The Longview School is committed to providing opportunities for its students to achieve academic, social and behavioral success and is a safe school community focused on life-long learning.
The event is sponsored by Visual Art Exchange and City Market. The proceeds of the auction will go to Longview School to help buy supplies and materials for its students.
