The Downtown Raleigh Alliance will be transforming Raleigh Union Station Plaza with cool furniture, WiFi, shade umbrellas, and other amenities in partnership with Alfred Williams & Company and from local coworking spaces! Work solo or bring colleagues and book the conference table for a meeting.

The conference table will be able to be reserved in hour time blocks between 9 am and 5 pm (the table seats 6 - 12 people; minimum 6 people in your group to book the conference table). WiFi and whiteboards will be provided along with plenty of outlets and a solar-powered umbrella for quick charging of laptops and mobile devices. There will be additional tables for individuals to sit at, as well as plenty of benches along Union Station Plaza.

What’s the cost to use the outdoor office?    
It's free and open to the public!

Where can I find a water fountain?    
There's a drinking fountain and water bottle filling station inside Union Station, in the main lobby area.

Where are the restrooms?
The restrooms in Union Station are open to the public and are about halfway down the main lobby, on the north side.

What do we do in case of bad weather?    
Union Station main lobby has a wide variety of seating options that you're welcome to use. If you had reserved the conference table, you're welcome to use HQ's Loft conference room which will be on hold for the duration of the Outdoor Office. It is located in the HQ facility across from 310 S Harrington Street. Please ask a community manager if you have any questions.

Is the WiFi protected?    
There is an open network and a secured network. The network name is "WorkAtUnion" and the secured network will have a lock icon next to it. The password for the secure network is: ilovedowntown! WiFi is provided by Benmeyer IT.

Are there outlets for charging?    
Yes, please ask the community manager on site if you have questions locating the outlets.

How much seating is there?    
The conference table seats up to 12 with tall stools. There is additional Herman Miller seating that includes 4 seats at a normal-height table, 2 Adirondack chairs with a coffee table and 1 spun chair. There is also overflow seating on the benches lining the plaza.

How do I make a reservation for the conference table?    
Please visit https://calendly.com/workatunion/outdoor-office to book a group between 6 and 12 people.

How long can I book the conference table for?    
Bookings are in 1-hour time blocks.

Can I still have my meeting if the conference table is booked?    
Yes, but the remainder of the seating is first-come first serve. There is additional Herman Miller office seating for 8 people (a mix of casual and traditional seating) and also overflow seating at the benches along the plaza. The conference table is the only conference table available in the space.

Will there be whiteboards?    
Yes, we'll have large whiteboards and dry-erase markers available.

Who brought the snacks today?    
You'll find a sign at the community manager desk listing those who will be bringing snacks and coffee that day. Our partners include Videri, Heirloom, A Place at the Table, State of Beer, Weaver Street Market, Happy + Hale and co-working spaces Industrious and Spaces.

Will there be food or drinks at the Outdoor Office? Can I bring my own?    
There will be complimentary coffee available every morning as well as treats in the morning and afternoon provided for those at the Outdoor Office. You're welcome to bring your own drinks and snacks. Alcohol is not permitted.

How should I get there?

Can I bring my dog?    
Yes. It's a city-owned space so your dog must be on a leash.
