Jazz Series Featuring: Dave Potter

  • Friday, April 13, 2018 9 pm - 11 pm

LOCATION: Circa 1888 - 412 W Davie St

We have live music for you from NC native, Dave Potter, this Saturday night! Show starts at 9pm and there will be a $5 cover charge. Circa 1888 is a beautiful billiards bar with craft cocktails, beer, wine, and an outdoor patio. Located in Raleigh’s burgeoning Warehouse District. About Dave Potter: Dave Potter is quickly becoming known as a formidable musician. A native of North Carolina, Dave began performing with many of his elders in the RDU area at the age of 16. After relocating to Tallahassee to attend Florida State University, Dave quickly sought out Marcus Roberts as a musical mentor, an important relationship that endures today. In addition to his role as the long time drummer of the Jason Marsalis Vibes Quartet, Dave has performed with Roberts, Ellis Marsalis, Marcus Printup, Russell Gunn, Takana Miyamoto, Greg Tardy, and many others. Dave recently released his first album as a bandleader on Summit Records which features Roberts, Marsalis, and bassist Rodney Jordan among other contributors . Now located in Atlanta, Dave maintains a busy teaching and performing schedule while continuing to tour the globe as a member of The Jason Marsalis Vibes Quartet. "With You Already Know, Potter shrewdly mixes it up, both in terms of line-ups and direction. He simultaneously places himself at the front and back of various trio, quartet, and quintet configurations that touch on classic compositions and sturdy originals with verve and class. When all is said and done here, Potter leaves us with an appreciation for his work as soloist, composer, leader, and rhythmic pillar. He does it all, and he does it well." - by Dan Bilawsky of allaboutjazz.com
