LOCATION: Personify - 416 S. Dawson Street

On Friday, February 2nd, from 6:30pm to 9:00pm, Personify is pleased to present New Works by artist Joseph (SPCLGST) Giampino as part of the First Friday Art Walk. Joseph will be on hand to speak with visitors about his work which will remain on display through Monday, February 26th. Joseph Giampino, aka SPCLGST, is a paint splattering, musical, world traveler who tells really bad jokes. He graduated with a degree in Design from The University Of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2004. After working professionally as a freelance designer for many years in publication and print, he discovered his love for typography and hand-painted signage. Over the last several years, he has dedicated his time to learn the lost art of being a sign writer. Sign painting is a true historical folk art that has been pushed aside by advances in technology, as people choose speed in creation over hand-crafted quality. Joseph plans to break the rut that the world has fallen into and hand-paint every sign he can until the bristles fall off his brushes. You can follow Joseph at WWW.SPCLGST.COM. Dj Triple B will provide a soundtrack inspired by the artist, and his collection. Light refreshments will be provided.
