OUR UPCOMING EXHIBITION: New Works by: Laura Lacambra Shubert & Sally Resnik Rockriver WHERE: Gallery C, 540 North Blount Street, Raleigh, NC 27604 Laura Shubert and Sally Rockriver Laura Lacambra Shubert was born in Durham, North Carolina. Daughter of a Basque father and American mother, she grew up in both Florida and Spain, and chose art as a career at an early age. Lacambra Shubert studied painting, drawing and printmaking at Southern Methodist University, where she received her B.F.A. in 1986. After studying painting at Academie Port Royal in Paris, France, for one year, she returned to the United States, where she began exhibiting in solo and group shows across the country. In 2000, she was named a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts in London, England (established in 1754). Her work can be found in private and corporate collections in the United States and abroad. Sally Resnik Rockriver is a glassblower from Chatham County North Carolina. She holds degrees in ceramics and glassblowing. Sally orchestrates geochemical reactions in molten glass and ceramics. Her latest works marry the succulent with the concrete, inviting the viewer into the fantastical underworld of "Planet Candyland." This collection of specimens will be installed like coral reefs onto the gallery mantles.
